Business Central and NAV2018 at the same machine

Hello Experts,

Is it possible to have development environments for both NAV2018 (work) and Business Central (want to play with) on the same laptop?
The problem is different versions of Visual Studio Code AL Extension.
Can I have two "installations" of Visual Studio Code with different sets of extensions?

i am using BC 14 on premise.
i just realized in web client we can see all the tabs
but in phone mode/ table mode i cant see Navigate and Action tabs
how to show these 2 tabs?

hi experts,
it seems simple question but as new developer i want to know this before installation i want to install business central as well as nav2016 on same machine will it be possible without any problem.
i have tried before but while visual code usage i can't connect to business central Now i want to install on other machine
but i have doubt same thing will happen.is any one know about this issue.

Hi all,
i have the following issue on a installation of Dynamics 365 BC build 14.0.29530.0. with a normal client (not web version).
when i try to send a email confirmation from an order page 9700 (email Dialog) opens with the right information and pdf attachement.
when i press send with a checkmark on open in outlook it gives me the message "You cannot send the email. Verify that the email settings are correct Do you want to download the attachment?".
The client pc is windows 10. The outlook version no. is 1908 build 11929.20254.

Strange thing is that some clients have this problem and some other clients works fine.
Who can help me with this?

Error while installing Business Central

Hello , When i try to install BC i get the following error:


The service 'Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Server [BC130]' (MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$BC130) failed to start. This can be caused by one of several issues. For example, the password for the account that runs the service may be incorrect, or there could be a conflict in port sharing for the port settings for the service, or you have specified that the port for the server should be opened in the Windows firewall even though the Windows firewall is not enabled on the computer. For more information, see the event viewer.


Can anybody help me with that ??

Upgrade NAV LS 2013 R2 to Business Central LS Issue

Hello Fellow NAV Specialists,

I have a query. I was following below Link to upgrade NAV LS 2013 R2 to NAV LS 2018 CU2 and from there to Business Central (LS Central).

While converting NAV 2013 R2 to NAV 2018 (i.e while opening 2013 R2 in 2018 CU2 .exe), i was getting error "Codeunit 50000 does not exists", which i could solve using SQL query of deleting Obejct Metadata and Object Metadata Snapshot.
After 100% completion i got following error:

Has anyone encountered such issue ?
Because of the above mentioned issue i had to reroute the Upgrade, i.e. from NAV 2013 R2 to NAV 2015 to Business Central (with respective LS Version). That worked. My concern is if the route i have chosen is correct or not?

Wrong Value of Option Data Type when Exported to Excel

Hello. I tried exporting a page to Microsoft Excel with an option field but it gets the wrong value. I don't know if it is a NAV issue or an Excel issue. Kindly suggest. Thank you.

Problem with a DotNet usage

Configuring a new business server i find an error with a DotNet datatype variable.

The process is basically generating a PDF (programming) in NAV and leaving it a local folder -> This works.

Calls a CMD and executes a 'bat' which has the process of moving and deleting the file -> Partially works, it deletes the file from the local folder.

It should move the PDF file from the local folder to a shared folder on the internet -> This step won't work.

Finally, it deletes the file from the local folder when executed -> Works.

The complement for the server used is System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo

I believe maybe i'm missing a characteristic for the server which gives some kind of permission to be able to move the file to the shared folder, but i'm unsure which one could be.

Account Schedule Comparison Period Formula not working on 365 Business Central

Hi There

I'm having a very frustrating time with account schedules. I designed a column layout for my client in NAV 2018 which worked fine. It showed them the figures for the stated date range, the figures for the same period LY, Current YTD and LYTD.

Having been upgraded by our partner to GB NAV 14.1 connected to Dynamics 365 Business Central the formulas for the Last Year columns are no longer working.

The colunm layout setup looks like this:

The client runs accounting periods on the 4-4-5 model so I have to use Comparison Period Formulas.

Previously, if I ran an Income Statement for P1..P9 (29/10/18..28/07/19) I would get,
  • in column 1, figures for that date range;
  • in column 2 figures for 30/10/17..29/07/18;
  • and in columns 4 & 5 the same (let's draw a veil over why the client wants YTD columns that show the same information...I thought they'd be reporting quarters separately each time, but no!)

Since the upgrade I now get the following date rages by column (bear in mind, I've made no changes to the formula)
  • in column 1 no change: figures for the asked for date range are shown
  • in column 2: 30/10/17..26/11/17. In other words P1 of the previous year
  • in column 4 figures for the asked for date range as you'd expect
  • and in column 5 30/10/17..26/11/17. In other words P1 of the previous year

I've tried every variant of the formula to get last year's figures for the equivalent period that I can imagine or can find suggested online
  • -1FY
  • -1FY[1..CP]
  • -1FY[CP]
None of them give different results.

I've also tried changing the Column Type to Balance, Net Change or Balance at date. Nothing makes a difference.

Is this a bug in 365 Business Central or am I missing something embarrassingly obvious?

Pass Records to XMLPort

Hi there,

I'm trying to pass Records as a Parameter to a XMLPort:
    RefundsXML.SetRecord(RefundsL);
    TempBlob.Blob.CREATEOUTSTREAM(OutStrL);
    RefundsXML.SETDESTINATION(OutStrL);
    RefundsXML.EXPORT;

RefundsL contains a few records (depending on the filter). With
RefundsXML.SetRecord(RefundsL);
I'm passing them over to a function in the XMLPort in which I assign the Parameter Variable into a Global Variable.
The problem is that I can only use the SourceType "Text" and not the Table/Fields for the nodes.

So here's my problem / question:
Whenever I run the code, only the very last record of the filter gets used and exported into a xml file. How can I make sure that the XMLPort properly repeats the nodes until every record is in the xml file?

I'm assigning the fields from the table manually to the variables / nodes in the parent node.

Using BC On prem Web Client with NAVUserPassword credentials

Dear Experts,

I have configured my demo environment to accept NAVUserPassword credentials by following the steps on the below link.

After following the above steps, the Windows client is working perfectly fine but the web client has stopped working. I am doing this exercise because I want to enable the Edit in Excel functionality in Business Central On Premise which is also a lot confusing for me, I read on one of the blogs that i need an azure subscription even for the on prem version of Business central which seems unnecessary to me. Your kink advise will be much appreciated in these two matters.

BC On-Prem NAVUserPassword Web Client

Dear All,

I have a BC On-Prem Instance working fine with Windows credentials, both the windows and web clients. However, as soon as I change the credential type to NAVUserPassword, the web client gives me an error of Communication Protocol Mismatch, but the windows client works well.

I followed this blog and it seems I'm missing something in step 7 last point as in the web config file there isn't a key for authentication type. I changed the ClientServicesCredentialType in the navsettings.json file but to no avail.

any help is much appreciated.

Serial No.'s shipped out missing upon creating warehouse receipt.

Hi,
Is someone here encountered a very mysterious events in Navision
Where in the warehouse receipt from a Transfer Order, the serial of the Item magically disappeared, whilst the warehouse Shipment Picking went out fine?



Scenario,
we have a Transfer order for the transfer of item 1 from Location 1 to location 2,
we created a warehouse receipt for item 1 wherein we have to pick and assign each serial no. for Item 1
after the we post the Warehouse shipment
the Transfer line updated for Item 1.

The Qty. Shipped has been filled up with the actual Qty (for the serial no.) , then the (Qty. InTransit(Base)
based on the Qty. that has been shipped.
and the serial no.'s were assigned to the Item Tracking lines for the Shipment of Item no. 1

for the next part where in we have to create a warehouse Receipt.
so that the location 2 will now have a qty to receive.
in the standard flow.

we Release the Transfer Order,
Then Create Warehouse Receipt. eventually.

but then
when we navigate the item tracking lines for Item 1
the Serial No. that has been shipped out is not there.

this happens randomly, with this transactions.
we could not pin point when does this serial no. disappearance occur,
because when we try it on a separate transfer order with different / new serial no.'s it work's pretty well.

I am trying to connect Business Central On-Prem (on my local machine where I do the development) with Flow.
I carefully followed all the steps mentioned in http://www.fajdiga.info/blog/2018/11/05/integrate-business-central-on-prem-with-flow/
However, at the stage where I have to put the
-Web Service URL
-Username
-Password

I get an error 'desktop-pjd3o2q' clientRequestId: b12f58f2-2bf8-4ed1-a56b

In the Web Service URL I am adding http://desktop-pjd3o2q:7048/BC140/ODataV4
In Username the DESKTOP-PJD3O2Q\John Doe
In Password the Web Service Access Key that belongs to this above specified user.

What am I doing wrong?

Error on publishing app to business central on prem using administrator shell

I have verified the instance, path and business central version and everything look correct to me as it was working fine on other similar environments.Can anyone guide me regarding this issue.
